Thank you for your interest in visiting Cardinal Glennon, where our love for kids just keeps on growing! In order to provide exceptional patient care, we ask all visiting groups to agree to our visitor policies. These policies are designed to promote a safe and happy environment for our patients.

Special visitors may come to Cardinal Glennon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. All special visitors must schedule their visit ahead of time by contacting David Ish at (314) 268-2700, ext. 2425. Groups that have not been scheduled in advance will not be permitted to visit patients in the hospital. We ask that visitor groups not exceed six people. All visitors must be at least 16 years old.

Many groups want to bring gifts for our patients. While we are grateful for these generous donations, we must observe a few rules for the safety of our patients. Please check the boxes after reading each section.

1. For the health and safety of our patients, we ask that you please not visit if you have had a cough, cold, fever or any flu-like symptoms in the past 48 hours.

2. Visitors must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer between each patient contact, or upon entering and exiting each patient room. Visitors are not permitted in isolation rooms, but can wave from the doorway if appropriate.

3. To protect the privacy of our patients and families, no photographs may be taken without prior, written consent from the patient’s legal guardian. No cell phones or food/drink are permitted in patient care areas.

4. We cannot accept:

Wrapped gifts
Food, beverages or candy
Any product containing latex (ex: balloons)
Religion-themed items
Used toys or toys with sharp, rough edges
Any item with toxic or lead-based paint
Guns, swords or other violent toys
Stuffed animals (unless brand-new and in sealed package)
Items made of or containing glass

We also do not permit soil or dirt into our intensive care or bone marrow units.

All materials provided by the special visitor must be appropriate for hospitalized children, and approved by the Child Life Department prior to the visit. We reserve the right to end the visit immediately if any inappropriate materials, behavior or language are used.

5. In accordance with federal patient privacy regulations, all patient information is to be kept strictly confidential. Special visitors may not ask patients or family members any questions regarding their hospitalization or medical care.

6. Cardinal Glennon is a special place, and many patients and families often want to return for a special visit. We welcome our former patients and families.

However, we encourage you to be sensitive in sharing information about your own medical history or experiences, as our patient families are still navigating their own journeys.

7. We ask that special groups do not request personal contact information from our patients.

8. We ask that you wear attire appropriate for a children’s hospital.
