Frequently asked questions
Becoming a volunteer is easy, but does involve multiple steps which can take some time. This process helps guarantee the safety of our patients, staff and other volunteers, and helps ensure that the needs of the hospital and the volunteer are both met with a good volunteer/position match.
There are different application deadlines and time requirements depending on whether you’re an adult or student or if you’ll be participating in a service project. Learn more about these guidelines.
The application process involves the following steps:
Meet all of the current SSM Health medical/health requirements for volunteers
Provide information for a background check
Submit two references
Interview with the Volunteer Director
Attend New Volunteer Orientation
